🎃 What a Spook-tacular Two Weeks!

🌧 Training doesn’t stop for bad weather — it starts there.

At 1:25 AM this morning, Boone County Search & Rescue was called out to assist the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Boone County Ambulance.

Yesterday, Sheriff Godzicki, Sergeant McCrea, and Emergency Management Coordinator Chris Hayes had the honor of presenting on the formation and mission of Boone County Search & Rescue at the 2025 Iowa Homeland Security Conference.

At 1312 hrs, Boone County Search & Rescue was dispatched to assist Boone County Emergency Management and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office in delivering and distributing bottled water to the City of Pilot Mound after a water system failure left the community without service.

This weekend our team had the opportunity to put our new Arizona Vortex tripod into action during a rope rescue training exercise on the High Trestle Bridge.

We’re a little late with this week’s update, but our crew put in some serious work during training.

Not every call is a dramatic rescue, but our members never need an excuse to put a boat on the water.

This week, Boone County Search & Rescue focused on sharpening our rope rescue capabilities — a critical skillset for emergencies in both rural and industrial settings.

As the saying goes, “the best laid plans…”
